Who will benefit from Dermal Fillers?

Dermal filler injections help those with obvious wrinkles, drooping skin, hollows, scars, thin lips and those who simply want a more youthful appearance

How do dermal fillers work?

Dermal filler (Hyaluronic acid) is a sugar molecule in your body that binds water, to form a gel that acts as a lubricant & shock absorber in movable parts, such as joints, By boosting the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid, dermal fillers revitalise the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, minimising deep scars or dents, enhancing lips and plumping cheeks. It is long-lasting but not permanent.

What are the benefits of dermal filler?

Instant results that last for months, allowing you a certain control over the appearance of wrinkles, in smoothing your skin and creating a more youthful appearance.

Is dermal filler treatment safe?

Yes. Our dermal filler is Restylane, the most scientifically documented HA based dermal filler in the world. Comprehensive studies support its safety and over 10 million treatments worldwide have been carried out over 12 years. As this Dermal Filler resembles the body’s own hyaluronic acid, the risk of allergic reaction is reduced.

What areas can be treated?

Face – forehead lines and lines between nose to mouth lines (the nasolabial folds) or between eyebrows (the glabella lines).
Lips – Add volume and shape.
Cheeks – define the contours of your face.
Chin – define the contours of your face.
Hands, Neck or décolletage – boost your skin’s vitality, for a healthier more hydrated skin tone.

What does dermal filler treatment involve?

Before: During the initial consultation, our doctor will discuss what you wish to achieve and recommend which dermal filler treatment is most suitable for you.
If you are happy to proceed, treatment will only commence following a thorough discussion of your medical history with the doctor, completion of a medical history form and a signed consent form.

During: Dermal filler is injected into the skin in small amounts using a very fine needle. The gel provides natural volume to smooth away the appearance of lines and wrinkles, enhance facial shape, or create fuller lips.

Does it hurt?

Some people may experience mild discomfort, in these cases a local anaesthetic cream can be applied to the area for a more comfortable treatment experience.

The lips are a highly sensitive part of the body and, therefore, at Aurora Skin Clinic we only use dermal filler products with local anaesthetic lidocaine included for a more comfortable treatment experience.

Are there any side effects?

Most side effects are temporary and mild, they include slight redness, swelling, itching, bruising, pain and tenderness. They typically resolve spontaneously within one or two days, but for some treatments they may last longer. Lips may swell for up to a week, but this typically reduces after two to three days.
